Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on July 27, 1955, Sue’s early life was full of adventure as her family relocated to several vibrant cities, including Chicago, Illinois, and Kansas City, Kansas. Her journey eventually brought her to Houston, Texas, the city she would call home for the remainder of her life.
Sue was a proud alumna of Houston Baptist University, where she earned her degree and laid the foundation for a lifetime of achievement. She channeled her dedication, sharp mind, and natural leadership into a highly successful career. Exceptionally devoted to her work, Susan spent her lifelong career in the tech industry. She began her professional journey at Texas Instruments, later collaborating with leading organizations like Compaq and ConocoPhillips, and ultimately spent the past 18 years serving with distinction at Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Product Development and Product Management.
Beyond her professional achievements, Sue’s heart belonged to her passions and her loved ones. She found immense peace tending to her beautiful garden, spending sun filled days at the beach, and sharing her home with her cats. Above all, she fiercely loved her family.
Sue is survived by her loving mother, Jacquelyn K. Bridgen; her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Lesley Bridgen; her nieces, Lauri D. Bridgen, Lindsay Callison, and Amanda Grosch, her three great-nephews, Jack, Luke, and Tripp, and her beloved cat, Mr. G.
She is reunited in peace with her husband, Bob Riley, and her father, Clarence James "Bud" Bridgen Jr., who preceded her in death.
A service celebrating Sue’s life and legacy will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas. A viewing will begin at 1 PM, with the service immediately following at 2 PM. The family will gather for a private entombment service at the conclusion of the memorial.
