Suzanne Larkin, 76, of Tomball, beloved wife of Brian Larkin, died peacefully at HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on August 13, 1948, daughter of the late Raynold and Mary Patricia (Overberger) Arcuri.
Sue, as friends and family called her, studied at local schools before meeting Brian, and they wed at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church in Pelham, New York, on May 26, 1973. Together, they raised a family of two sons in Pelham. Later in life, Sue was a substitute teacher at various area schools before teaching second grade full time at the Immaculate Conception School in Tuckahoe, where (among other treasured students) she taught two of her nieces. She continued to teach as she and Brian moved first to Florida and later to Texas. Sue and Brian moved to The Woodlands in 2002, before settling in Tomball, to be close to her beloved sons.
Those that know Sue unfailingly enjoyed her company and great sense of humor. Those that know Sue also got to experience her inquisitive nature and rapid fire questions. Sue’s curiosity and genuine interest in those that she met was one of her hallmarks. Another cherished quality she had was the instant recall of these details months and years later – everyone was important to Sue. She enjoyed laughing with her sister, Ellen, eating a wonderful home cooked meal by Brian and, above all, children. Her children were the most important aspect of her life; her grandchildren were an endless source of happiness and wonder for her, as were nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, friends’ children, their children, children she met and even children she didn’t meet! It is impossible to distill such a wonderful person and life down to a few words; however, kindness, sweetness, cheer and humor all immediately come to mind when thinking of Sue. She will be terribly missed by all who know her.
In addition to her cherished husband, Brian, she will be greatly missed by her two sons, Andrew Larkin and Matthew Larkin, as well as by her nephew, Ryan Cicero, who is often endearingly referred to as Sue’s “third” son, having spent countless hours with the Larkin family growing up and beyond. She will also be greatly missed by her three grandchildren, Conner, Alexis and Brooke Larkin. Sue is also survived by her brothers, Raynold Arcuri, Jr. (Carolyn), John Arcuri (Nancy) and Paul Arcuri; and her many adoring nieces and nephews. Sue was preceded in death by her loving sister, Ellen Arcuri.
The family will receive friends at the Brookside Funeral Home - Champions, 3410 Cypress Creek Pkwy, Houston, Texas 77068, on Tuesday, March 4th between the hours of 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
Flowers can be sent to Brookside; alternatively, contributions in memory of Sue can be made to any branch of the Humane Society or any other charity. The family thanks everyone in advance.
