Suzy Jean Davis Price, 73, of Houston, Texas, entered into eternal life during the early morning hours of August 27, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, Nana, sister and aunt; friend to everyone she met; and will be forever missed and honored.
Born September 5, 1952, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Suzy joined her family’s legacy by attending her beloved alma mater, Oklahoma State University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, she devoted more than 40 years of her life to effectively raising up the next generation in her role as an elementary school teacher. Starting her career in Pryor, Oklahoma, she and her young family eventually moved to Houston in 1984, teaching at several schools, including St. Cecilia Catholic School, The Regis School of the Sacred Heart, and eventually, spending her final 20 years of service at Boone Elementary School in Alief ISD. To help her students understand science and biology at a deeper level, she incorporated incubation projects into the curriculum—hatching chickens and ducks. She would also have unusual class pets, including hedgehogs, rabbits, turtles, butterflies, and more. What started as fun and engaging ways to educate young minds, soon developed into a lifelong love of the simple joys of inner-city “farm life.” After her retirement in 2017, she moved her attention to cooking, gardening, raising chickens, harvesting honey and modern homesteading techniques.
Suzy and her husband Bill were married June 2, 1973, celebrating more than 50 years together. Rarely spending a day apart, they loved traveling together, frequenting Florida, Louisiana, Oklahoma and numerous locations across Texas. However, she would always say her heart was in Galveston, where she and Bill would run off to every chance they got.
At an early age, Suzy gave her life to Jesus Christ, accepting Him as her personal Savior. She dedicated her time, talent and treasure to helping others know the overwhelming love offered to all of us. From local mission trips to bible studies to her and Bill’s pilgrimage to Israel, Suzy had a passion for God and loved sharing her faith with everyone she encountered. Through just a kind word, a bright smile or her sweet countenance, she embodied Christ’s love daily.
Preceded in death by her parents Garland and Shirley Davis, Suzy is survived by her husband Bill; children Byron and Beth, Jennifer, Kimberly, James and Skye; siblings Nancy and Gerald Nelson, Stephanie Davis, Sally and Kim Bacon; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her celebration of life will be held at Houston’s First Baptist Church at 1 p.m., September 14, with a graveside service immediately following at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
