

Sydney “Syd” Siems Motal, 53, entered into rest on Friday, December 9, 2011 at her Houston residence. She was born on March 9, 1958 to Forrest J. Siems and Mary B. Siems in San Antonio, Texas. She was a devoted member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Hand Bell Choir and in many capacities at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School, having served for more than 20 years until her passing. Sydney loved crafts, cooking, music, dancing and animals, but most of all she loved her family and was a proud and devoted grandmother. She was known for her beautiful mums for high school Homecomings. Syd will be remembered for opening her arms and home to friends in need and as a result, become known as “Mom” to many. Sydney is survived by two daughters, Kassidy Motal and Kendall Collette and husband Andy; two grandchildren, Mason and Mckenna Collette; sister, Shelly Narciso and husband John, other relatives and dear friends. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman St., 77018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest at Shiner Catholic Cemetery in Shiner, Texas at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in honor of Sydney Siems Motal to St. Rose of Lima Catholic School.
