I worked with Sly at USF Logistics on the Ryerson Account. Sly had an "unconventional" personality but he was a good man who loved his kids more than anything in life. I was saddened to learn of his passing and hope your memories carry you through until you see each other again.

I have been cutting Sly's hair now for a little over 4 years. I have had the pleasure of getting to cut Matthew's once as well. What a great shock this was to me. It only took a couple of haircuts before we were fast friends. That is just how easy it is when your around Sly. This man was filled with love, compassion, integrity, intelligence (he had it all too brain smart and street smart as well, and most people usually do not have both) and an outstanding moral character. It is hard to imagine that I will never get to see his smiling face walk through my door ever again and make me laugh so hard I wanted to cry. He was more than just my client he was my friend and when Sly was your friend he always had your back. I have gotten some of the best advice of my life from this man. And he spoke of Matthew and Monica and his grandson repeatedly and loved them very much as well as his mom.

So my deepest apologies and heart felt sympathy go out to this family. May this special person in so  many people's lives rest in peace. And know that as you all mourn there are many others mourning with you.

Monica and Matthew; I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Sly's passing. We spent many hours together on the road while I was at Ryerson, and we became good friends. I will always remember the meals and time we shared. Sly was always telling me about both of you, how proud he was of you!

Our love and prayers are with all of the family.  We knew Sly only briefly, but we liked him instantly and could tell how much he loved his family. We know it does not seem fair that Matthew and Monica should lose their beloved father at so young an age, and Mothers pray never to lose their children.  While he was here he loved and was loved by all of you and will always be an important part of your lives, living in your hearts.  He is now at peace, walking with the Lord.  We pray the Lord will comfort you in your grief and that all your memories with him will sustain you and give you peace until we are all walking with the Lord together.

I worked with Sly since 1995 at what was then TNT, when he was based in El Paso.  Sly was always a gracious host, and played tour guide to all the sites in West Texas and New Mexico.  He was kind, gentle, proud of his kids, and had a great sense of humor. I'll cherish my memories of him, and am so sorry to see him leave us so young.

Uncle Sylveter is here! My eyes would light up when I heard those words, as I would search for you in a family crowd. No matter how long it had been since I had seen you last, you always knew how to make me feel loved with your warm embrace. You will be greatly missed Uncle Sylvester.

The dinner we had with you at our home in Redmond, WA paired with the great conversation about the love, devotion and dedication you have to your family was truly a gift.
