Tao Jing passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026 (January 3, 2026 according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar) in Houston, Texas. He was 84. Tao was born on March 13, 1941 in Nanzhang Village, Dingxing County, Hebei Province in China. In China, he worked for the Foreign Languages Publishing Bureau, the Metallurgical Ministry, and Everbright Corporation. He came to the United States to study in the summer of 1986, earning an MBA from Mississippi State University. After graduation he worked as a business manager for Freeman TireCo in Chicago, IL, before retiring with his wife Yu Cheng to Houston, TX to be near their daughter’s family. Tao worked hard throughout his life, lived frugally, and was diligent and responsible in all his endeavors. He also cared deeply for his family. Tao is survived by his wife Yu Cheng, his sister Ping Jing, his nephew Qian Zhou, his daughter Sherry Cheng, and his grandchildren Luke Jiang and Alice Jiang.
