On August 26th, 1984, Theresa Perry Carston and Charles Carston were blessed with an amazing daughter, TaQuerria Jeneka Jane Carston, known to many as “Kandiee” or “Jeneka”. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas. After graduation from Kashmere High School, TaQuerria went on to the Art Institute of Houston to study graphic design. She attended Walden University where she studied business and digital marketing and was nearing completion. She completed several continuing education courses where she obtained certifications. She had an entrepreneurial spirit and was passionate about helping others feel accepted and loved. TaQuerria was looking forward to restarting her career after being a stay-at-home mom since 2018.
Growing up, TaQuerria was surrounded by an abundance of love and family. Though she was an only child with her parents, they were a very close-knit family. Even when she moved away from home, they spoke daily, and she remained extremely close to her parents’ hearts. Both her mother and father spoiled her to no end; however, she was a true daddy’s girl through and through. She was at her mom’s bedside to hold her hand up until she took her last breath. So, it was no surprise that her dad was at her bedside every day to hold hers until her end as well.
In 2011, TaQuerria met her love, life partner and best friend, Christi. They were inseparable and married in 2013, the couple joined last names and she became the one and only TaQuerria Jane Cawa. In 2018, TaQuerria made the Cawas’ family dream of parenthood a reality by giving birth to her “mini-me”, Bovi Cawa.
TaQuerria was like her mother in so many ways. She was extremely creative and a bit competitive. She loved playing Words with Friends and made sure to always look her best before leaving the house. She was also an avid lover of the outdoors and spent much of her free time in nature where she felt most connected to God. While living in Oregon, she fell in love with the beautiful scenery and often referred to it as a nature lovers wonderland. She, her wife and son were in the midst of relocating back to Oregon prior to her untimely passing. She was looking forward to going back so she could plan more trips to the lakes, ocean, waterfalls, and forests. Through rain, shine, or snow she was always ready for an outdoor adventure. Just as much as she enjoyed being outdoors, she enjoyed being a wife and mother even more.
TaQuerria was a bright shining light in this life, she was full of kindness, positivity, grace and love. Her passing was completely unexpected, but she leaves a legacy of love and wonderful memories behind. She is survived by her wife, Christi Cawa and son, Bovi Cawa of Hillsboro, OR; father, Charles Carston of Houston, TX; Uncle James Carston of Lafayette, LA; Aunts Jessica Elinda of The Woodlands, TX, Eva Mae Bernard of Crosby, TX, Janice Williams of Carencro, LA and Bernadette Thomas of Layfette, LA; parents -n-laws; James Ware, Debra and Gary Ogren; siblings-in-law Robert Folkestad, Sarah Ware, Angela Fisher and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
