Tarlton Sam Jr.

Tarlton Sam, Jr. was a retired Sergeant from the United States Army where he served our country for 26 years. He was also in the Army National Guard and later became a truck driver. Sgt. Sam was an ordained deacon with New Word of Faith Baptist Church in Houston, TX, and loved studying (and debating) God’s Word..

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sgt. Sam was a devoted family man, who loved his family above all else. He was a beloved spouse to Lou Ann Sam. He was called father by Phillip Sam, Tarlton Sam III, Demetrius Sam, Kaneisha Sam, Nettravon Sam, Johhnylon Sam, Monica Henry, Sha Falcon, Yolanda Turner, Frank McAdams, William McAdams, and Earlmarine Milson. He was a devoted brother to Erwin Billy Sam, Easton Sam, Blair Narcisse, Wayne Eugene, Pinky Schexnayder, Shelia Sam, Eunice Sam, Dorothy Sam, Patricia Sam, and Patricia Provost.

In his free time, Sgt. Sam enjoyed everything football, which brought him joy and relaxation. He also loved to barbecue, a king of the grill.

Tarlton Sam, Jr. is survived by 8 children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren], and 10 siblings, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Ann Sam, mother, Eunice Schexnayder, father, Tarlton Sam, Sr., brother Johnny Sam, children Phillip Johnluis Sam, Nettravon Sam, Kaneisha Sam, and Frank McAdams and, grandchildren Jawaski “Jock” Sam and Jermasha “Manie Poo” Decuir.

A funeral service will be held at American Heritage Funeral Home on September 19, 2023, with a committal service to follow at Houston National Cemetery. Flowers, gifts, and condolences can be sent to American Heritage Funeral Home.

Tarlton Sam, Jr. will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through his family, friends, and colleagues.

A funeral service will occur Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
