There was magic in Grandma's touch, and sunshine in her smile. There was love in everything she did to make our lives worthwhile. We think about you always, we talk about you still. You have never been forgotten and you never will.
I, Teresa Dorsett Martinez was born on a Friday, November 22, 1935 to Charles and Guadalupe Dorsett in Brownsville, Texas.
I am preceded in death by my husband, Roger Martinez, son, Roger Martinez Jr; parents, Charles and Guadalupe Dorsett; sister, Oralia Ortega and 4 brothers. I am survived by my children; Norma Dorsett Martinez, Pam Wurtzburger (Dave); Nelda Lozano; Teresa Dillehay (Leonard); Noelia Dorsett Reeves (Guy); Sylvia Martinez (Dolores Sanchez); Carlos Martinez (Lilly); 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren and my 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
I worked in retail for over 20 years and enjoyed my daily interactions with people. I was featured in The Houston Chronicle in 1994 when the Houston Rockets won a championship. I was an early riser and always started my day off with a cup of Folgers coffee and prayers. I also enjoyed watching my novelas, shopping, gardening and looking at plants. I lived for my family and loved seeing and spending time with my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. I loved celebrating birthdays, holidays and having family get-togethers. Any chance to spend time with my family was a blessing to me. I appreciated going to church and watching Charles Stanley on television. I did the best I could in life to stay in faith daily and encouraged my family to stay strong and do the same. I endeavored daily to be a living example of one of my favorite Bible verses, Ephesians 4:32 -- "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgive one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
