Theodore Bailey Jr.

Theodore (Ted) Eggleston Bailey Jr. passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at the age of 92. He was born to Theodore E. Bailey Sr. and Lula May Dawson Bailey on February 25, 1932 in Houston, Texas. His family later moved to Webster, Texas where he graduated from Webster High School. Following high school he attended the University of Houston and graduated from University of Houston Law School with a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree. He then married Georgena Joy Parks on June 1, 1957. They immediately went to Fort Lee, Virginia, for six months where he did his active duty with the Army. He then went to the Military JAG Corp as a reservist. He retired from the military as a Colonel while he was practicing law. Ted began his career as an attorney, and was a sole practitioner for over 60 years. His wife taught school in HISD and was his personal secretary for his entire career. He was a devout Christian and a long-time member of South Main Baptist Church. He was a Mason for over 70 years and was an advisor for Explorer Post 29. He and his wife were world travelers, going to well over 100 countries an all seven continents. He also was quite the hunter, going all over the United States, with many stories to tell. Ted also did lapidary work and even had Bailey's House of Rocks. He was a collector of seashells, rocks and minerals, etc. He was always busy doing something.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years, and his sister Helen Bailey Green and husband Don, sister-in-law Rosalee Parks Bagby, and brother-in-law Burton Holloway Parks.

He is survived by his son Ted Bailey III and wife Martha Martinez. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Cheryl Green Friederman, Scott Green, Elizabeth Schooler, Milton Bagby, Burton Bagby-Grose, and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
