Ted’s greatest joy in life was making others happy. He brought smiles and laughter to all who were blessed to know him. He lived life every day to the fullest, and he always saw the positive in everything. He loved his family more than anything and was truly an angel on this Earth.
From all his friends around the world, the messages are all the same. He was the nicest guy alive.
Ted was born in Peoria, Illinois. He spent most of his childhood in Houston, and he met his soulmate Susan at 16 when he asked her to Junior Prom. They got married in 1982, and their love story is the greatest anyone has ever known. They had two beautiful twin girls in 1985, and Ted spent his life being the best father in the world.
Ted also loved his profession as a petroleum engineer, first at Gulf Oil, and then with Chevron. He advanced through many different managerial roles, with his final assignment being General Manager of Tengizchevroil (TCO) in Kazakhstan. We are so proud of him.
Ted adored his grandkids and would do anything for them. He loved taking them boating and fishing. One of his greatest pleasures in life was traveling the world with his wife Susan.
Ted is survived by his bride Susan, daughter Katherine Potthoff and husband Justin, daughter Lara Machemehl and husband JP, grandchildren Holly Potthoff, Hunter Machemehl, Connor Potthoff, Kayleigh Potthoff, mother Barbara Sanders, brother Steve Etchison and wife Lori, and brother Paul Etchison and wife Mary.
He is preceded in death by his father William Etchison, brother Michael Etchison, and stepfather Philip Sanders.
Precious husband and Daddy, we love you beyond words and miss you so much. You were the light of our world, and we know you will be our guardian angel forever.
