Mrs. Theresa Jones was born on December 23, 1917 in Houston, Texas, as Theresa Isabel Dotson. Her husband, Eugene, at age 91, retold the story countless times to friends and family of how he met his wife, Issey, as he called her, while working at the Heights Theater in Houston. He was an usher when he saw Issey in line, knew she was the one, snuck her out of line, and slipped her a pass to the theater balcony. He and Issey laughed many times about the fact that her girlfriends did not get in free and that they married shortly thereafter in July of 1935. Their seventy-year marriage produced many fond memories and stories that have been pasted down to their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They raised three wonderful children, Maxie, Margaret, and Sandra in Houston, Texas. She had 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Isabel was a homemaker and devoted mother. They lived in Houston while raising their children and moved to New Caney Texas 60s. Her family remembers many stories of Isabel’s life; her love of, the Sunday family barbeques and many Easter’s at the Jones’ home where the eggs had to be hid many times over to satisfy all of the grandchildren. Isabel had a special love for her family and spent her spare time on road trips with her sister and nieces, tending to her flower gardens and making her special “Dump Cake”, that everyone begged for at the holidays.
Imagine what a fulfilled life she lead and what strength she showed during her 93 years of life.
