It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thérèse Tewfik Dickinson, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, who passed away after a life filled with love, creativity, and devotion to family.
Born on December 20, 1943, in Cairo, Egypt, Thérèse was the eldest child of General Tewfik Michel Fanous and Souraya Jacob Sabry. She grew up with a strong sense of family, determination, and curiosity that would shape her remarkable life.
Shortly after graduating from Ain Shams University in Cairo with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Thérèse met the love of her life, Alastair Dickinson. Captivated from the moment he saw her, Alastair asked for her hand in marriage the very next day. They married just 24 days later and built a loving partnership that endured for 61 years—a testament to their deep commitment and affection for one another.
A highly intelligent and creative woman, Thérèse possessed many talents and interests. Early in her career, she worked as a Certified Public Accountant while raising their two daughters, Michele and Renée. Her passion for beauty, antiques, and interior design eventually led her in a new direction. Combining her keen eye for detail with her natural artistic ability, she designed the interiors of homes around the world for many prominent Middle Eastern families, earning admiration for her elegance and taste.
Thérèse will be remembered not only for her accomplishments, but for her infectious laughter, dancing spirit, and quick wit, which made her a delight to be with. She approached life with enthusiasm, intelligence, and a sense of adventure and curiosity that drew people to her. Whether exploring a new idea, uncovering a hidden treasure among antiques, or sharing a clever observation, Thérèse embraced the world with energy, wonder, and passion.
Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless lives she enriched with her humor, creativity, and love. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Alastair Dickinson; daughters, Michele Dickinson, and Renée (James) Harrington; grandsons, Nolan Harrington and Youssef Omar; sister, Mohga Haroun; and brothers, Michel Fanous, and Atef (Melody) Fanous.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. Mary and Archangel Michael Coptic Church, 7030 Lakeview Haven Dr., Houston, TX 77084. Interment will immediately follow at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
