

Mr. Crawford served in the United States Air Force at the end of World War II, stationed in Fort Nelson, B.C. He later returned to Alabama and graduated from Auburn University where he was a member of Eta Kappa Nu , the national electrical engineering honor society. After graduation, he went to work for Humble Oil and Refining Company, which ultimately became Exxon Mobil. He became an expert in geophysics and geoexploration and traveled extensively, with overseas assignments in Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and China.
Mr. Crawford is preceded in death by his wife, Wilby “Billie” English Crawford; his daughter, Linda Crawford McDonald; mother, Annie Grant Crawford; father, Horace Crawford; and sister, Laura Crawford Grounsell. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Crawford Akerman, her husband, Don; grandchildren, Thomas Akerman, his wife, Janett, Amanda Akerman Bahan, her husband, Nathan, Katherine McDonald, Jeff McDonald; one great-granddaughter, Zoe Bahan; siblings, William Roy Crawford, his wife, Anne, Ellen Crawford McElroy, Janice Crawford Boehl, Gloria June Crawford, her husband, Tom, Marcia Crawford Williams, her husband, John, Rita Crawford Belcher, her husband, Chet, Jim Raymond Crawford; and also many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone at Resolution Hospice, especially Sonia and Roberta. They provided healthcare and support for Mr. Crawford and the family during the last days.
A memorial service is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 6th of June in the family garden of his daughter’s residence, where The Rev. Robert H. Hensen, Rector of Grace Anglican Community, is to officiate.
