

He was born on the 23rd of November 1937 in Houston, Texas to Thomas Norman and Hallie Dunnam. Tom attended a one-room schoolhouse through grade school, traveling by horseback with his beloved dog in tow. He lettered in three sports and enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising Brahman cattle.
Tom attended the University of Texas and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. After graduating with a degree in business in 1962, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was also a volunteer for the Houston Livestock Show Calf Scramble Committee.
Tom began his career with the Houston Corrugated Box Company. In 1979, he founded his own business, American Corrugated Box Company, Inc., and later American Trailer Rental Company. After a long run of bachelorhood, he met the love of his life, Margaret Eliza O’Kelley of Athens, Georgia. They were blessed with 40 wonderful years of marriage and three children.
Tom was a member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, where he attended the Genesis Sunday school class and Monday night men’s Bible study. He was passionately committed to helping the sick and those in need. His generosity was apparent in ongoing hospital visits.
Tom loved spending time with his family and friends at his hill country ranch. He will be remembered for his humility, love of others and infectious sense of humor. Tom was a devout Christian who believed that everything we do should have Christ at its center.
He was preceded in death by a son, Justin Thomas Dunnam. His wife survives him as well as his children: Sabra Dunnam Boone and Clay Tanner Dunnam. Also surviving are his three grandchildren: Laura Tanner, Mary Eliza and Virginia Browning Boone; his son-in-law, Jonathan Thomas Boone; his sisters Norma Lee Minter and Mary Ann Charles; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of Tom during a reception to be held from four o’clock in the afternoon until six o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 21st of May, in the grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The memorial service is to be conducted at half-past one o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 22nd of May, at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the nearby Fellowship Hall.
Prior to the services, the family will have gathered for a private interment in Dripping Springs, Texas
