

Thomas Wilburn Haney, 82, passed away September 8, 2011 at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer and related illnesses. A lifelong resident of Houston, Thomas was a graduate of San Jacinto High School class of 1947 and was a member of the Alumni Association. He was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad for 42 years as a Trainman and was a member of the UTU Retiree Club. He was a member of the SPJST Lodge #88 as well as a member of the Mens Club. He was also a member of The Sons of Hermann Lodge #47.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Louise Haney and Thomas W. Haney and sister, Margaret Averyt. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years and his caregiver for over five years, Agnes; daughters, Joyce Coggin and husband Steve and Sheila Brock and husband Alex; son, Dennis Haney and partner Frank Martinez; six grandchildren, Michelle, Brian, Heath, Candace, Kristen and Amber and seven great-grandchildren, Kayla, Tristan, Allison, Chase, Travis, Harlie and Addison and sister, Louise Cookus.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Wolff and his assistant Kelli Nugent of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for their care and concern.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 4-7pm at Pat H. Foley & Company. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Monday, September 12, 2011 in the Chapel of Pat H. Foley & Company with interment to follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Frwy, Houston, TX, 77060.
