Thomas Wade Pounds, 75, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at St. Lukes Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Tom was born on September 18, 1940, in Victoria, Texas to Thurman E. Pounds and wife, Alva Henegar Pounds.
He graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and graduated from South Texas College of Law with a Juris Doctor degree (magna cum laude). He served in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers as Captain. He began his legal career with Baker and Botts in Houston. He worked on the Federal Energy Regulatory Committee (FERC) under the President George H. W. Bush administration. He later became the Executive Vice President and Secretary for the American Oil and Gas Corporation. He was respected as an expert in all phases of Oil and Gas matters and continued advising and writing contracts for clients long after his retirement. He was a member of the Petroleum Club of Houston. He enjoyed sailing, theatre, and travel, especially cruises. He and wife Reva recently returned from a cruise to the British Isles.
Tom was predeceased by his father, Thurman Pounds and his mother, Alva Pounds. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Reva, by his son Wade and wife, Marla, his grandchildren Westin and Emily of Houston, and by his sister, Sandra Williams and niece, Kathy of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 11:30am with funeral services to begin at 12:30pm in the chapel. Following the funeral service, a burial with full military honors will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas at 2:15pm.
