Thomas D. Powers

Thomas D. Powers, age 78, died February 22, 2011, of pancreatic cancer. He was born June 29, 1932, near Marlin, Texas. He worked in agricultural chemical sales and had his own business for many years. He was the patriarch of an extended family. Tom was a member/Past Master of Northwest Masonic Lodge #1434, recipient of the Golden Trowel Award, Scottish Rite, Arabia Shrine and Past President of the Tomball Area Shrine Club.

Tom is survived by wife, Barbara; son, Jay Powers; daughter, Shannon Powers; also daughters Cyndi Murray and Nancy Holt; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard and Robert; sisters, Dorris Childs, Faye Hagner, and Shella Moore; a host of other family members; and numerous friends.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Fri., Feb. 25, Brookside Funeral Home, 3410 FM 1960 West, Houston. On Sat., Feb. 26, services will be at 10 a.m., John Wesley United Methodist Church, 5830 Bermuda Dunes Dr., Houston; burial will be at 3 p.m., Blue Ridge Cemetery, east of Marlin.
