

Thomas Thigpen Terrell, 82, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 14, 2024. He was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, on February 26, 1942, the youngest son of Lee Kitchell Terrell, Jr. and Sara Davis Terrell.
Tom received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston in 1966. While attending UH he also served as a Coast Guard Reservist. Tom had a successful career in the petroleum industry, working for PennWell Publishing for over 30 years, rising through the ranks to become Senior Vice President of the Petroleum Group and Publisher of the Oil & Gas Journal. In 2005 he joined the International Association of Drilling Contractors where he was Senior Vice President - Corporate Development & Chief of Staff. He was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Business Marketing Association, and the Petroleum Industry 25 Year Club.
Tom cherished his family and friends, was an avid bird hunter, talented artisan of duck decoys, tennis lover, maker of a mean Old Fashioned, and never met a labrador retriever he didn’t like.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Davis Terrell, father, Lee Kitchell Terrell, Jr., brother, Lee Kitchell Terrell III, and beloved wife of 44 years, Georgia Burrell Terrell. He is survived by his daughter, Brooke Jones, husband Rob and their three sons Jack, Ben, and Trent; daughter Sara Norwood, husband Matt and their three children Gillian, Stella, and Preston; and son Chris, and his two daughters Evelyn and Georgia.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, Houston, TX, on Monday, July 1st at 11 o’clock in the morning.
