Thomas Anthony Vetrano, of Houston, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, the 30th of June. He was 71.

He was born on the 3rd of December 1947, to Anthony L. Vetrano and Jean Valenza Vetrano.

Fondly better known as “Tommy V” to most people, he was a one of a kind man who had a heart of gold and was true and dedicated to all his family and friends - he truly gave more than he received and wanted it that way.

His lifelong passion has always been guitars but, music, surfing, cars, biking and tie-die were at the top also.

A native Texan and Houstonian, he was a graduate of St. Thomas High School and the University of St. Thomas. A proclaimed self-entrepreneur, helping create many businesses, he was also in realty, insurance and worked for Harris County.

He is survived by his two sisters, Patricia Vetrano Sheppard and her husband Frank, and Jeannine Vetrano Buckner; his nieces, Sheila Sheppard and Stephanie Sheppard Stevenson and her husband Tony, and Gina Buckner; nephew, Daniel Buckner; great nephews Jay Stevenson, Sheppard Stevenson and Max Stevenson; and a multitude of friends, more than anyone could ever imagine.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 12th of July, at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 13th of July, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Wayne W. Wilkerson is to serve as celebrant.

The Rite of Committal will immediately follow, via an escorted cortège, at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.

Honored to serve as pallbearers during the services are Lafayette Herring, Doug Husid, Johnny Godwin, Ed Chen, Galen Younger and Taylor White. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Frank Sheppard, Daniel Buckner, Tony Stevenson, Dahr Jamail, Dr. Mike Macris, Michael Valenza, John Valenza, Robbie Valenza and Paul Valenza.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in honor of Tom may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
