Thomas H. Weed

Thomas Hugh weed passed away on January 29th at the age of 81. He was born in Beaumont, Texas to Eleanor Moss and W. F. Weed. He graduated from Beaumont High School, where he played football beging named to the District Team. After high school Tom served in the U. S. Army and was stationed primarily in Germany. Following his army service, Tom attended the University of Texas, graduating from Law School in 1961. He moved to Houston to join the firm of Dyche, Wheat, Thorton and Wright. Tom developed a specialty in banking and real estate which he practiced for over 45 years with a succession of firms, ending his career as a sole practitioner.

Tom treasured anytime he was with his family. Throughout his life, he loved hunting and fishing at Weedhaven, the family ranch on Carancahua Bay. Opening weekends of dove season for his family and friends and Thanksgiving with extended family were always memorable occasions. He also enjoyed archery both bow hunting and target competitions, achieving many awards including a State Championship.

Survivors include his wife, Kay; daughters Elizabeth Weed and Margaret Greenshield and her husband Loren; brother Jim Weed and his wife Mary; grandchildren Katrina Greenshield, Jessica Greenshield and Carissa Adair; nieces Eleanor Weed Deering, Carol Ann Weed, Kathy Weed, Linda Weed, Jamie Hessel and Tess Weed; nephew Keith Yezer and his beloved Viszla dogs, Lil and May.

The memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 2nd of February, in the chapel of The Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Boulevard in Houston, where the The Rev. Douglas W. Richnow, D. Min., Senior Associate Rector, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the nearby parlor.

The family will have gathered for a private interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston prior to the memorial service.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed towards the charity of one’s choice.
