Tomas H. Aparicio
January 8, 1923 – February 28, 2019
Tomas H. Aparicio, 96, of Houston, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019; fourteen days after his beloved wife of 63 years went to prepare their dwelling in heaven.
Tomas was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was well respected in his community and neighborhood. He was a kindhearted and thoughtful person that will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He brought everyone joy, laughter and love wherever he went. He was born on January 8, 1923 in Mexico City to Tomas Aparicio and Teodora Hernandez. He was a musician by heart, when at the age of 10 he was the drummer for the Mexican Military Services. In the 1950’s he became an avid saxophone player that opened the doors for him to play with the prestigious Mexico Philharmonic Orchestra, before playing with the famous Orchestra of Luis Alcaraz and ending his musical career composing and playing in Houston, Texas with the orchestra of Gaston Ponce Castellanos.
He married Esperanza Rodriguez and moved to Houston, Texas where they raised four children, Thomas, Luis Carlos, Adrian and Alma Edith.
He was a devoted Catholic and attended Mass regularly at Church of the Resurrection. He was involved at the Denver Harbor Senior Citizens Center, where he loved to play “Bingo”.
Tomas is survived by his sons Thomas and his wife Linda Kristine, Luis Carlos and his wife Lucy, Adrian and his wife Patricia, and his daughter Alma Edith Aparicio. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren Gloria, Beatrice, Nicky, Luis Gabriel, Adrian Jr., Rene, Ruben, Jorge, Angelica, and Alma Beatriz, his 8 great-grandchildren Amarus, Lazarus, Lilliana, Ari, Brixton, Adriella, Alessandra, and Ian and many nephews and nieces that he helped raise as his own children.
The family is grateful to his neighbors and friends: Troy and Teresa Medina, Alma Guerrero, Josie De Leon, Director Denver Harbor Senior Center and Dora, Peria, Lydia, Danielle along with Dr. Daumas in caring for and watching over our father. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Harbor Hospices and their staff for providing the best team in home health care making our father’s last days as comfortable as possible.
