

Deacon Currington was born on September 2, 1932 the only child of Roosevelt and Lillie B. Currington, in Snook, Texas. He attended and graduated high school from Phillis Wheatley High School in 1952. He joined the U.S. Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1957. He also attended Prairie View College.
On October 31, 1965 he entered into holy matrimony with Eartha Dean Berry and fulfilled a marriage of 55 years.
Deacon Currington’s place of employment was the Anchor Hocking Glass Company, where he retired after 35 years. In 1970 he along with his family joined the Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor L.E. Driver. In 1975 he was ordained as a deacon. He served as one of the church treasurer. He remained at Solid Rock after Pastor Driver’s departure and served faithfully as a giving member under the leadership of Pastor Ross Cullins.
Deacon Currington was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and father-in- law. He truly loved his family, fellow church family and friends unconditionally. Deacon Currington peacefully transitioned on August 14, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roosevelt Currington and Lillie B. Wiggins-Currington.
Cherishing his memories are his wife Eartha Currington; Four beloved daughters Veronica Monee’ Currington (Louis D. Young Jr.), Yuronda Ronee Currington, Latigee Montree’ Currington-Comeaux, Vanessa Dawn Currington; Three beloved sons Roger Ray Berry (Deborah Denise Berry), Quincy Luther Currington, Martin Luther Currington (Detrice Currington); Twenty grandchildren, Marcus Mossiah Garvie, Patrick Dwayne Jones Jr., Diamond Dainee Jones, Komanya Mwendelezi Jones, Nikitra Kyong Edwards, Christon Jaquan Edwards, Jacori Dwayne Edwards, Xavier Tyrell Comeaux Sr., Albert Abston Comeaux Jr., Quanisha Nicole Comeaux, Destiny Lacea Comeaux, Terrance Black( Felecia Black), Ashani Gymel Berry, Ashney Danielle Avery (Jonathan Avery), Je’siah Currington, Zion Currington, Quan Currington, Elijah Currington, Martin Luther Currington Jr., Lailee Currington. 11 great-grandchildren, Marcus Jossiah Garvie, Tré Lynn Cardel Jones, Isaiah Jaquan Edwards, Jeremiah Joel Edwards, Xavier Comeaux Jr., Ohana Comeaux, Messiah James Comeaux, Noah Elijah Comeaux, Terria Black, Alesia Black, Alani Avery and one Aunt, Ora Lee Williams in Bryan, Texas and a host of cousins, and friends so dearly loved.
A visitation for Tommy will be held Monday, August 30, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. A committal service will occur Monday, August 30, 2021 from 1:45 PM to 2:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77030. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 30, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
