

Tonya Renee Mahorn was born in Houston, Texas on December 2, 1970, to the parents of Carol Joyce Schwalbe and Johnny Ray McCarty. She resided in Houston as a little girl. She later moved with her mother to Los Angeles, California where she started elementary school as a child. Tonya was funny, sweet and silly as a kid while growing up. She enjoyed playing with her sister, Latasha Mayhorn and her host of cousins who she was very protective over. She attended Lennox Middle School in Lennox, California, and also to Leuzinger High School where she played basketball in Lawndale, California.
During that time she met Dion Jones where they welcomed a child, whom they named Alexandria Mayhorn. In the Summer of 1988, she attended job corps in San Bernadino, California where she met and married Patrick Seabery. They have a total of seven children, Dashawn, Lashawn, Desiree, Ashley, Carolyn, Patrice and Latrice Seaberry. In June of 1966 she lived in Cudney, California where she gained work experience in a customer service position. Tonya enjoyed being a homemaker. She was lovable, and praised being at home raising her children. Later on, she went to relocate to San Bernadino, California where she worked for the Sun Newspaper for over five years.
She moved to Victorville, California where she received her first grandchild. She has 12 grandchildren, Ariyah and Gemayle Hill, Hector Sousa VII, Kylee Moore, Skylar, Carson, Ryana Clark, Layla Bryceson, Dream, Lexxion, Cyiovanni Edwards, Jaish Mayhorn, and Jo Webb Jr. In the summer of 2020, Tonya moved back to her hometown where she spent her last years of life.
In 2022, Tonya united her membership with New Mount Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Harrell R. Berry, where she joined the usher board. She was a faithful member until her sickness, even then she still remained faithful.
Tonya leaves behind her fiancé, Dion Jones; eight children; two bonus children, Keshawn Beverly and Marvae Carr, whom she loved dearly as her own 12 grandchildren; one sister, Latasha; two brothers, Christopher (deceased), Kendrick McCarty; father, Alexander (deceased); Jhonny Ray McCarty; nine nieces and nephews; 12 great‑grandchildren, and a host of aunts, and cousins.
Tonya will be truly missed as she was her children’s voice of reason, hand‑holder, shopping buddy, heart healer, teacher, chef, right‑hand psychologist, problem solver, comedian, doctor, peace keeper. She is known to be their best friend.
