A Life Well Lived
Trent T. Garfield Jr., affectionately known as "TJ," was born on July 11, 1983, in Mt. Holly, New Jersey. Raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, TJ was the beloved son of the late Trent Senior and Patricia Garfield. He later made Houston, Texas his home to pursue his college education, which marked the beginning of a new chapter in his remarkable journey.
A Shining Light and Enduring Legacy
TJ was the heart of his family a radiant presence known for his boundless love, compassion, and steadfast faith in God. His genuine kindness and infectious smile touched the lives of everyone he met, leaving an unforgettable mark on family, friends, and countless others. We remember him not for how his life ended, but for the way he lived: with unwavering commitment to uplifting those around him and spreading love wherever he went.
A Man of Faith and Dedication
From an early age, TJ’s faith served as his guiding light. Baptized and confirmed at Saint Philips Episcopal Church in Philadelphia, he served as an acolyte until he moved to Houston, where he continued his spiritual journey and attended several churches. His devotion to God was evident in his daily life and interactions.
Passion for Technology and Career Achievements
TJ discovered his love for computers early, building his first computer at just 13 years old. After graduating from the University of Houston, he dedicated himself to a fulfilling career in information technology, excelling in various roles and specializing in IT for oil companies. His passion fueled his professional success and inspired those who worked alongside him.
Family and Cherished Relationships
In 2012, TJ married Pearlie Robinson, and together they welcomed a son, Trent T. Garfield III, lovingly known as "Jet." Later, in 2017, he married NaKieshia Hall, and they were blessed with a son, Troy A. Garfield, as well as his beloved bonus sons, Ay’den and A’mir. TJ’s love for his children was immeasurable, and he cherished his role as a father. TJ is survived by his loving mother, Patricia; his grandmother, Bernice Taylor; his children, Trent III, Ay’den, A’mir, and Troy; his siblings Torin Garfield (Valerie), Sheri McDonald, Donte Gatson (Chedon), Trevor Garfield, Taylor Garfield, Anecshia Tilly (Willie) Whisenhunt, and Anthony Sykes. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, including his godfather and uncle H. Daniel Taylor Jr., his special aunts Diane King (Terry) and Jurdina Koilor, and his favorite cousins LaKeeta (LJ) Garfield and Tegan Moto. All adored TJ dearly and cherished his kind and giving spirit.
Forever in Our Hearts
Those who knew TJ will forever remember his joyful laughter, gentle humility, and commitment to making the world a kinder place. His influence continues to guide and inspire those left behind. While our hearts ache at his sudden departure due to a car accident in Harris County, Texas, we find comfort in the meaningful memories he gifted us and the enduring love that remains our guide. Though we cannot see him, the memory of TJ, his faith, generosity, compassion, and light—will always remain by our side, strengthening our family bonds until we are reunited again.
A Lasting Influence
Throughout his life, TJ encountered many people, and it was evident that he had a real gift for leaving a lasting impact on those who crossed his path. His ability to touch the lives of others set him apart and contributed to the deep sense of loss felt by his family, friends, and all who knew him. TJ’s kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith were reflected in every interaction, and the memories of his influence continue to guide those he left behind.
Little Did We Know
Little did we know little did we know that night that God would call your name.
In life we love you dearly and death we do the same
It broke our hearts to lose you, you didn't go alone
for part of us went with you the day God called you home
You left us peaceful memories your love is still our guide
and though we cannot see you you’re always on our side
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same
but as God calls us 1 by 1 the chain will make again
