

Truman Gelette Howze was called home to his Lord on June 11, 2021. He was born to July 2, 1926 to parents Odelia May Chairs and John Gaston Howze in Lott, Texas. Truman grew up with one brother, Burl Lee and four sisters: Nelda, Jean, Delores, and Linda. He was drafted into the Army and served in the South Pacific. After being discharged from the service, Truman came home and met Elizabeth Sadler, whom he married on May 16, 1947. They had one daughter and were married for 74 years. Truman gave his life to the service of the Lord, pastoring Gate Wood Baptist Church for 11 years and Green Valley Baptist Church for 46 years. He also traveled to Africa, New Zealand, Brazil, Jamaica, and the Virgin Islands as a Missionary. Being alone with God in the country and riding horses were two of his favorite things to do.
Truman is preceded in death by his parents, brother Burle Lee Howze, sisters Jean Ready, Nelida Heyl and great-grandson Aaron Taylor Carr. Those left to cherish his memory are: wife Elizabeth Howze, daughter Brenda Gale Anglin, sisters Delores Lalman, Linda Overbay, grandchildren: Brenda Lee Peveto, Apryl Alain Carr, Gary Lee Elliott II, great-grandchildren: twins Caleb Lee Peveto and girlfriend Katie Jo Haby and Collin Ray Peveto and Katey Elizabeth Peveto and fiance John Toland, great-great-grandson Kyson Grey Peveto along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Green Valley Baptist Church, 16803 Aldine Westfield Road, Houston, Texas,will host the services. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021 with the funeral to strt promptly at 2:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will be at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
