Nguyen Huu Tuoi was born in My Tho, Vietnam and was the 3rd of eleven children to Nguyen Van Phuoc and Vo Thi Kiem. He attended grade school through college in Vietnam where he was known for his soccer skills. He then enlisted and served in the South Vietnamese Air Force in the helicopter squadron 217 during the Vietnam War. Once honorably discharged from service due to an injury, Tuoi also flew for Air America in Vietnam. After the fall of Saigon, he immigrated to the United States in 1975 as refugees with his wife and first child, Khoi. He made a career being a helicopter pilot for over 20 years at Petroleum Helicopters, Inc. and had a second child, Phi.
Tuoi was well loved by everyone he knew. He was definitely a man of few words, but when he spoke, everyone listened. He instilled honorable family values and a tireless work ethic in his children and led by example in many aspects of life. He was selfless in many ways and was always generous with his love and time.
Tuoi is survived by his brothers Sanh and Chi, his sisters Tot, Nu, Trong, and Quyen, his children Khoi and Phi, and his grandchildren Luc, Andie, Ellie, Lana, and Lyla. In our hearts, his memory will live on forever.
