Valerie graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 1981. During her last year of high school, she went to school half a day and worked the rest of the day at Trade-Mart pharmacy. Her working career continued in construction working for Scotty Enterprises, MEK Construction, Wyman-Gordon, Roban Contractors, and for the past 12 years, she currently worked as Operations Manager for American National Construction Inc.
Valerie was a Lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 8905, Cypress, Texas and served as past president and vice president.
She was involved in BBQ and Chili cook-offs, judging, cooking, and was a “Blue Ribbon” winner.
She was a great cook and loved cooking for family and friends. Always looking for a new recipe to try. Some of Valerie’s favorite past time activities were dancing, listening to good music, singing karaoke, watching sports, road trips through the country, shopping for antiques and relaxing at the lake with Terry and her dog “Sable”, she loved her Sable.
Valerie was a great photographer, she loved taking pictures of family gatherings, birthdays, weddings or any other occasion – she was the one who always had a camera in hand.
Red roses were her favorite flower but she loved a variety of colorful flowers.
Valerie is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Terry Wayne Jurica, Sr. and her sons, Terry Wayne Jurica, Jr. and Brandon Kyle Jurica. Sisters, Barbara Magoulas (George) of Cypress, TX, Johnnie Faber of Houston, TX, and brother Bill Steen (Diane) of Houston, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Winston David Steen and Margaret Peterek Steen. Maternal Grandparents, John Charles Barta and Julia Peterek Barta. Paternal Grandparents, Hiram Brown “Bill” Steen and Leita Esta DePoyster Steen.
She was a very caring and giving person who always thought of others before herself.
She always had a smile on her face and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Most of all Valerie deeply loved her husband, Terry and her sons, Terry and Brandon.
Visitation is Wednesday October 10, 2018 from 5:00PM-8:00PM with the Rosary at 6:00PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Rd. Houston, TX 77077. Funeral Service is Thursday October 11, 2018 at 10:30AM at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Rd, Houston, TX 77065, with the Committal Following at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd. Houston, TX 77077
