

Vera L. McDaniel, age 77, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2018 in her home surrounded by familiarity and love. She was born October 2, 1940 in El Dorado, Arkansas to the union of Odessa (Ewing) and Hezekiah Harper both preceded her in death. She is the widow of Elbert McDaniel. Vera was a woman of a strong work ethic which she gained from her early years of being reared on the Ewing Family Farm. From an early age she developed a love of nature and growing things, she had a truest green thumb. Her garden and yard were a source of pride that she shared with the neighborhood. Her drive and tenacity are characteristics that were always on display for her children and friends to draw inspiration. She believed that Jesus Christ died for our sins and was baptized at Jerusalem Quinn Baptist Church in El Dorado, Arkansas. Vera is lovingly referred to as "Queen Mother" by her children and they looked forward to her daily calls to just check in on them....”this is Mama, I’m just calling to check in on you”. Her calls and conversations will be a great memory and sustainer to her family. She considered motherhood one of her greatest accomplishments. Her legacy includes five children, David V. Robinson; Andrea (Robinson) Jackson (Darron); Rodessa (Robinson)Washington (James); Jackilyn McDaniel and Edna McDaniel. She had a deep fondness for Willie Mae Hines, a childhood friend that became one of her children. She has many grandchildren; Andrea~Jonaie, Joanna, Tamiela, Timithy, Joshua, Elliott and Zury; Rodessa~Timisha, Timothy II, Johnessa, Matthew, Jessalyn, Brendalyn and Jalin; Jackilyn~Keewanie, Keunte and Keairra; Edna~Terrick, Kamiesha and D'Anthony. She has a host of great-grandchildren that were always a source of delight to her and brought her so much joy. She kept close ties with her siblings, Tommie Jean (California); Mattie, Sherman, Ella and Rita (Houston). She will be mourned by many, to include her family and friends in Arkansas, Michigan and California. "Sometimes things happen of a catastrophic level to remind us of what is really important.
