Vernie M. Roberson

Vernie Mae Roberson passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at her home in Houston, Texas. She was born on May 20, 1932, in Cyril, Oklahoma to Jewel Oscar and Minnie Evelyn Carlisle. She was the fifth of seven children. Vernie and her family moved to Arp, Texas where her father found employment with Sinclair Oil Company. Vernie graduated from Arp High school in 1949, where she was a cheerleader for the Arp Tigers. While living in Arp, Texas she met her husband Bob Roberson in 1948. They were married for 63 years and had three children, Vicki, Danny and Brenda Roberson. Vernie was a member of the Willow Meadows Baptist Church. She loved to participate in all the church activities. She loved being with family and friends and helping others and especially loved arts and crafts. She was such a warm hearted and friendly person. She will be missed by all who knew her. Vernie is survived by her husband Bob and her three children; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and her sister Joann Duty and her brother Leon Carlisle. She is preceded in death by her brothers Raymon Carlisle and Jack Carlisle and two sisters Kathleen Grant and Whila Dean Haire.
