Vicenta Morones

Vicenta graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1959. She began her working career at Southwestern Bell in 1962 as an operator, affectionately called “Vicky” by her coworkers. In 1977, she transferred to Special Services and retired in June 2000. Chenta was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.

Vicenta is survived by her siblings: Louis Morones and Gerardo Morones (Mary); 3 children, Joanna, Michael (Claudia), and Rita, 7 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, long-time family friends, and her Our Lady of Sorrows family.

Serving as pallbearers are Brian Ruiz, Gabriel Ruiz, Gilbert Ruiz, M. Lazarus Rodriguez, Malachi Rodriguez, Morpheus Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez and Everardo Morones. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Lee Morones and JoQuise Bridges.

A visitation for Vicenta will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with rosary beginning at 7:00 PM in the Grand Oak Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 10:30 AM in Brookside's Grand Oak Chapel. Burial will follow and take place in Brookside Memorial Park.
