Laconia "Mo" and I just learned of Vick's passing. We were in Edinburg reminiscing and found you on FB to reconnect. It hurts deeply than we did not reconnect in time to see you both again. We are deeply saddened at his passing as he was a best friend and roommate in college. Our deepest sympathies to you and the kids and grandchildren. Thinking of you all.

Rebecca, today(12/8/14) I learned of Vic's death. I had not heard of him in so many years. Today, I found a 2011 message from him on another message file for me on FB.   It was a pleasant surprise. He spoke of going to school with one of my siblings and working with my older brother  at HEB.  He also mentioned that my brother had contacted him once in Brownsville and that he had never heard from him again. I got so excited to see his note and quickly worked at locating him. It was with great sadness that I now read of his death. He truly was an accomplished man. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

To the Wyche family, my heart goes out to all of you. The beautiful condolences and shared memories showed that Vic was a very respected and loving man. He touched so many lives. What an accomplished life.  I had the pleasure of meeting Vic at my daughter and son-in-laws home (Carrie and Jerome) . Our prayers are with your family.

To The Wyche Family, I had the pleasure of working with Vic for several years while I taught at Edinburg High.  He was my go to when I needed a highly qualified teacher to substitute in my place.  When my students knew I was going to be out for military obligations, they always begged for Vic to be their substitute.  Of course Vic and I had already made the arrangements ahead of time for him to take my place, but he would stop by my classroom and we would tease the students that he wasn't going to be able to.  The kids would plead with us and then we would let them know the good news.  Vic was, and in my heart continues to be, a great friend.  He was always smiling and a friend to the world.  He would bring extra breakfast tacos for us in the mornings knowing somehow we ran late that morning and didn't eat breakfast.  We had long conversations about his track scholarship, life experiences, but most of all his family.  I still remember when he said he was moving up to Houston to be closer to his kids and grandbaby. His eyes would light up when he spoke about you all.  I felt as though I had lived those great moments because he said it with so much love, enthusiasm, and passion for you all.  I want to thank you for sharing Vic with us through the years. He is already missed and will never be forgotten.  May God grant your hearts comfort in your time of sorrow.

Mr. Wyche was instrumental in my academic and personal development. I vividly recall him sharing stories of his childhood and what it was like to be raised as he was. He was one of the kindest and most compassionate persons I have had the privelege of knowing in this lifetime. It is indeed a sad day for me to know that he has passed. So many things I wish I could have said to him had I known this would happen. Most importantly, he influenced a small town Mercedes boy to have a passion for education that has seen me go all the way through a Doctorate. That is because of his inspiration. I can only hope that his passing was peaceful and surrounded by those he loved. Mr. Wyche, you will be missed and never forgotten!

I knew Vic for a long time, he was the best!  If you were walking down the hall at school with a bag, he'd run over to get it from you and take it to your classroom.  He always brought us breakfast. He always got my previous room and then his last one was right next to mine, and he was the best neighbor. He was my son's fifth grade teacher and my son just thought the world of him. He always gave him wonderful advice.  Vic was just a wonderful person!  We will miss Vic!  Watch over us!

I only knew him for a short while when he was a substitute teacher at Edinburg High School but he impressed me with his attitude toward life. Your family is in my prayers.

Vic had a unique, special manner about him and impressed everyone who met him. I was blessed with working with him and then became friends. He was such a dedicated , fair, so calm and respectful man and teacher that the inmates not only did their academic work, they looked out for him, too! Even they were impressed and so fortunate to have been in his class.
He was such a caring and thoughtful man that he did not want to say much to me about his daughter because he knew I had lost mine not long before meeting him. What an amazing man! My deepest condolences to all the Wyche family. He will be missed.
