

Vicky D. “Vic” Wyche, born on December 11, 1951 in Bay City, Texas, passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 16, 2014. Vic graduated from Van Vleck High School in 1970. After graduation he attended Wharton Junior College then in 1972 attended Pan American University in Edinburg under an Athletic Scholarship in Track and Field where he ran the Open Quarter and Mile Relay. After graduating in 1975 from PAU with a BS in Physical Education, he coached two years in Robstown, Texas. He later became a 5th grade elementary teacher and taught in Progreso, Mercedes, and McAllen School Districts. For the past ten years he taught with Windham School District and Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Vic was an instructor at the Segovia and Lopez State Jails. He retired in 2008 and moved to Houston to be close to his children and grandchildren. Vic is preceded in death by: his parents: Sessia & Lillian Wyche; infant sister, Queen Ester Wyche. He leaves to cherish his memories: loving wife, Rebecca Wyche; son, Derek Wyche; daughter, Nicole Wyche Fernandez & husband Derrick; grandchildren, Ty Daniel Fernandez and Avery Isabella Fernandez; siblings: Sessia Wyche, III & wife Emilia, Yvonne Denmon & husband Fred, Odell Wyche, Sandy Wyche & wife Gail, Gery Wyche, Aqurnette Wyche, Leslie Wyche & wife Martha, Godwin Wyche & wife Audrey, and Qiana Wyche. The family will receive friends from 5-8PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 with a Rosary to be recited at 7PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30AM on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 527 S. Houston Ave, Humble, Texas 77338.
