The biblical meaning of Victoria is Triumphant, Famous Bearing; while the urban dictionary defines Victoria as kind, caring, sweet, talented, never flattering in friendship, gives freely. We were very blessed to have known this Victoria. She lived every bit of what her name represented and more.
Victoria Sarah McCrumada Johnson-Kandakai, was born in Grand Gedeh County, Liberia unto the union of Alfren Heinz and Sarah McCrumada on March 21, 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Quaye Sr; sisters Joanna, Catherine, Williette and Cecelia; brothers Dakena, Ishmeal, Jefferson, Levi, Winfred and Alfred Jr; grand-daughter Sanai.
In her early teenage years Victoria was first fostered by her aunt Sarah Stewart in Harrisburg and Mt. Coffee, Montserrado County and then by her three sisters Joe, Catharine and Williette in Monrovia. Victoria wed Quaye S. Johnson, Sr. in 1963 and became a parent at a very early age, whether it
was caring for her biological children, siblings, or other family members children. She was a disciplinarian who taught her children to be respectful, honest, and hard workers.
Victoria was a high achiever in every way. She did not let any circumstance and or condition deprive her from what she wanted in life. She graduated from high school and attended two years of college at the University of Liberia. Also, she attended a secretarial training program and received various certifications which allowed her to work as Secretary for the late Chief Justice of Liberia, August Roberts in the early seventies. Victoria also worked as Administrative Assistant to the Deputy Managing Director of the National Port Monrovia Liberia (N.P.A.) for over a decade. After arriving to the United States, she received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work & Master of Science in Marriage & Family Therapy at Prairie View A&M University. Much of her career was spent in the Home Health Field.
Whether at home, work, Bethel World Outreach Church, or her pray line “Sparrow Eyes All Nation International”, Victoria was known as a giving, loving, spiritual and a caring person by all those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband Arnold J. Kandakai and children Borkai (Shirley), Seth, Williette, Quaye, Samuel (Octavia), Momo, Miatta, Emmanuel (Amelia), Peter (Kawah), Arnold (Jackie), Calvin and Alma; 30 grandchildren; 7 siblings and a host of family and friends.
