Virgil Aubrey Rogers Sr. quietly left this life on Tuesday, the 22nd of December, 2015 at the age of 90 in Houston, Texas. Virgil was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on the 26th day of October, 1925 to Jewell Houston and Eula Rogers. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clois James and Billy Ross Rogers.
Virgil served in the U.S Navy during World War II from February 1944 until March 1946. While serving in San Diego, California he met and married Betty Hughey in January of 1945. At the time of Bettys death in 1990 they had been married 45 years. From this union Virgil is survived by his children, a son, Virgil A. Rogers, Jr of Huffman, and a daughter, Reitha Smith (husband Dwight) of Splendora, two grandsons, two granddaughter and six great grandsons. Also survived by a sister, Audie Bollier of Huntington, two Nephews and two nieces.
In 1991 he met a lovely lady, Hazel Moore, who was perfect for him. They were married on August 3, 1991 and the Rogers and Moores became a blended family. From that union Virgil was preceded in death by a daughter, Dru Moss of Houston.
Virgil is survived by his wife of 24 years, Hazel Rogers of Houston, son Doug Moore (wife Melissa) of League City, daughters, Millie Moore of Houston, Barbara Bishop (husband Neil) of Houston, Margaret Sartor (husband Rick) of Deer Park, three grandsons, two granddaughters and one great granddaughter.
Life Celebration services at First Church in Pearland, Texas at 10:00am December 29, 2015 with interment to follow at 3:00 at Brookside Memorial Park, Eastex Freeway, Houston.
