Virginia was born on the 29th of August 1931 in Coopertown, Tennessee as one of eleven children to Clem and Obie Felts. She moved to Houston to join her older sisters in 1950, where she met her husband to be, Jim. They married in 1970 and were together until his death in 2011. Virginia spent her professional life as an Executive Secretary at American General and then John L. Wortham Insurance. An avid gardener and cook, she was a former leader of the Briarcroft Garden Club and an active member of Second Baptist Church. She spent her later years caring for her husband through a long period of bad health, and was kind and thoughtful to everyone, albeit with a feisty personality. Virginia was a devoted mother and wife.
She is survived by her son, Allen, his partner Damien, and grandchildren Antonin and Emma, of Portland, OR; her sister Ann Jarreau and husband Mike of Ashland City, TN; numerous nieces and nephews, including special niece Janet Greene (and husband Chap Chapman) of Houston, TX, and special nephew Sid Jarreau (and wife Sandra) of Joelton, TN; her two long-time loving caregivers, Imelda Mgondah and Dayo Oyenuga; and special friend Patricia Shugart. She was predeceased by her husband, Jim, as well as a number of brothers and sisters.
