

She was born March 1, 1932, to Beulah R. and J.J. White of Helena, Arkansas, where she grew up and maintained lifelong connections.
She attended Stephen's College, Columbia, Missouri, and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1958. While earning a Master of Education degree at the University of Houston, she met and then married John E. Joiner, an architect, in 1959. They made their home in Houston, where they were members of St. Martin's Episcopal Church and The Houston Club. Throughout her life, she was a faithful supporter of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, and an active member of the Blue Bird Circle and The Houston Museum of Natural Science.
She and John were enthusiastic fans of Rice University athletics and regular attendees at baseball games for many years. They traveled the globe widely, and she was always intrigued by the natural beauty and varied cultures she encountered.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Martha White, all of Helena.
She is survived by her husband, John, and will be remembered for her intelligence, generosity, and compassion.
