All of the Hillendahl Library staff will miss Virginia very much. She was a very kind and grateful woman and we were honored to know her.

My father met your father, Don, in the Navy, and my mother has known your mother since grade school. My parents introduced your parents, and always, through good times and bad, loved them. I can't even begin to explain how much I will miss you. You were the best grandma i could ever ask for. I know I can't turn back time, but if i could I would tell you how much you meant to me. I didn't tell you how much I loved you enough, and for that I am sorry. I will miss you talking about the Astros and telling me all your crazy stories. As much as I wanted you to be in attendance at my wedding it comforts me to know that now you and grandpa will be watching together. I just want you to know that I will never let your memory fade, I will be sure to tell my family all about you. I love you grandma and I will miss you so much.

I will never be able to explain what you mean to me and my family. I loved watching you light up after you saw Daven. I will ALWAYS tell him of his Nana and how proud you were of him. It saddened my heart to learn of Virginia's passing.  Rather than being the wife of my cousin, Virginia was like a favorite Aunt.  Of course that was because Don was like an Uncle.  I have fond memories as a child of going over to their house at Christmas and many other times.  Virginia was a blessing to everyone she knew.  She was dedicated to her church, her family, and her friends.  I don't recall every seeing her without a smile.  She would take the time to call and check on me and see how my family was doing and in turn keep me posted about hers.  It was Virginia who taught my oldest son to water ski one summer when we stopped in Houston as we moved across the country.  While we lost a loved one, heaven gained an angel and she and Don are side by side again.  Virginia you will be greatly missed!

Dear Kathy, Nancy and Donnie,

Virginia King was such a special neighbor to our family.  We all remember growing up with your family right across the street.  Oscar always came over to bark at us...I use to be scared of him but realized he was just saying Hi!  Your Mom was wonderful!  She always came over to our house and the topic of most of the conversations were about her family.  I have heard so many things about you all my whole life.  I never see you all but I know you.  Your mother loved you all so much as only as a mother can do.  She was also very nice to my dauther, Jennifer.  She always wanted to know what was going on in my family.  

In the almost 43 years that I have known her she never ever said a bad thing about anyone.  She was just that kind of person.  She will be sorely missed!  When I drive down Riata I always felt like the neighborhood was my same neighborhood because she was there.  

I can't really give you any advice or do anything that will lessen your pain but I can say that your mom was really a wonderful person.  Even in the end, she was always helping someone.  I can tell you that I am sure your mom is in heaven and you all must do your best to make sure you are going there too so you all can live eternally together.  

If my family can do anything for you, please let me know.  I am just around the corner...

Our hearts were saddened with the news of Virginia’s passing.  Virginia was a wonderful friend to my husband and sister-in-law and I enjoyed hearing the many stories of their youth in Kansas City.  Virginia and I became friends through my sister-in-law and I am thankful for the brief times that we shared.  Virginia was truly a beautiful Christian woman with a heart of gold and is now a jewel in God’s crown. Kathy, Nancy, Donnie and all the family. Virginia was like a sister to me and I loved her and Don like my own family. I know this is a very difficult time in your lives, and I know that God will bring you through this peacefully. Your Mom and Dad will always be remembered for their Love, Caring and Kindness to all. Memories of all our endeavors together are my greatest and fondest memories of my life time. I will miss Virginia as I still miss Don. Don and Virigina are now both in Heaven looking down on us all and they are probably dancing to the Kansas City Song as they loved so much.
