Vivian Gamble

On December 15, 1938, a baby girl was born to Nathaniel and Nettie Baul Davis.

In 1962, Vivian united with Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, in the Heights, with Rev. Foreman, Pastor. After moving to Acres Home in 1971, she joined Wright Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Leon Ford. Vivian later joined God’s Grace Community Church with Rev. Isaac Matthews, Pastor, where she was a faithful member until her death.

Vivian married A.D. Jones in 1955. Into this union, three children were born. She later married Leon Gamble in 1984, into this union, one daughter was born. Together, Vivian and Leon co-owned Houston Harris County Septic Tank Service in Acres Home and a barbecue business.

Vivian was very active in her community. She was a member of Acres Home Tea Party, Lincoln City Park Program, Senior Swim Program, Strength Training, and Chair Volleyball, her favorite activity. Her motto: “I’m hopping, but not stopping.”

Vivian departed this life on November 1, 2023. She is preceded in death by both parents; husband, Leon Gamble; sisters, Annie Foy, Maxine Hammonds, Susie Scott, Iristine Griggs, and Mable Blanche; and brother, Thomas Davis;

sister, Evelyn Grayson, who recently passed, and was welcomed by Vivan.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Ronnie Jones (Joyce), Michael Jones (Michelle); two daughters, Bridget Devine (Kevin), Leontynett Gamble; sister, Shirley Williams; three brothers, Sidney Green, Kenneth

Green and Donald Ray Davis; sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A visitation for Vivian will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at God's Grace Community Church, 9944 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088. A funeral services will occur Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, 9944 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088. A committal will occur Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Paradise North Cemetery, 10401 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088.
