He was born in Houston, Texas, on November 7,1932 to the late Stella and Joseph Oadra. After graduating high school, Walter joined the Navy, was stationed in Hawaii and served in the Korean War from 1951 – 1955 on board the USS Epperson. He remained active in Tin Can Sailors, a National Association of Destroyer Veterans. Reliving and sharing his naval experiences with others brought Walter much joy thru the years.
Walter is survived by his sister Madeline Kowis, niece Sheri Harris and nephew Chris Kowis.
Walter is preceded in death by his sons Kenneth Oadra and Thomas Oadra, brother Johnny Oadra, brother in law Martin Kowis, wife Jessie Oadra.
A viewing will be held at Brookside Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016. The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016 with the burial immediately following.
