Waikhew "Khew" Ung

Waikhew "Khew" Ung was born on September 18, 1974, and passed away on June 14, 2026, in Katy, Texas, at the age of 51.

Born in Battambang, Cambodia, he and his family later settled in Mansfield, Louisiana, where he spent his childhood before pursuing his education and career in Texas.

Khew earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1997 and built a career in both automotive engineering and the oil and gas industries.

He was very proud of his three sons and enjoyed sharing meals, watching Marvel movies, and spending time with them. He loved live music, enjoyed gaming, and had a particular fondness for lemon cake.

Khew is survived by his children, Liam Ung and Benjamin Ung of Houston, Texas, and Robert Ung of Katy, Texas; his parents, Kinn and Cheang Ung of Lafayette, Louisiana; his sisters, Catherine Jerrells and her husband, Mike, of Katy, Texas, and Kate Lorio and her husband, John, of Lafayette, Louisiana; one niece, four nephews, and many close friends and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Chao Suong Yip and Kwan Yip, and his cousin, Visuth Yip.

Services will be announced at a later date.
