

Walter served his country in the Army, during the Korean War, for 2 years, and was honorably discharged. He owned Rx Dental Lab, in Houston, for several years. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles in his younger days and replaced it with just Fishing in the later ones. He served his community while a member of the Lions Club and his God as a member of Jersey Village Church of Christ. He was an avid Blood donor, beginning in 1960, and reached a milestone goal of 160 donations (20 gallons)!
He was married to Connie Johnston. His parents, mother Waldean Elizabeth Tidwell Johnston, father Walter Raven Johnston, brother Charles James Johnston, children Linda Johnston, Deborah Harding, Cynthia Bryant, Pamela Barks, Robert Hoefer, Henry Hoefer, and Jerry Hoefer. Grandchildren Patrick, Mary, Andrea, Sarah, Richie, Rickey, Jonathan, Whitney, Lindsey, Heather, Julia, Amanda, Kyle, Paxton, Chayton, Sequaya, Curtis, Mikaela, Christopher, Jerry, and Eddy. Also 35 Great Grandchildren.
A visitation for Walter will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
