

A funeral service for Wanda will occur Monday, April 15, 2024 at 11:30 AM at St. Basil the Great Greek Orthodox Church, 1100 Eldridge Pkwy, Houston, TX followed by a committal service at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX.
A visitation will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 12:00 PM, concluding with Trisagion prayers at 3:00 PM, at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX. There will also be a brief visitation Monday the 15th at 10:30 AM prior to the funeral at 11:30 AM at St. Basil the Great Greek Orthodox Church, 1100 Eldridge Pkwy, Houston, TX.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years William Stathis Kafoglis. She is survived by three children; daughters Anna Kafoglis Bjork and husband Paul, Tonya Kafoglis Lemoine and husband Tim, and son Stathis William-Javan Kafoglis. She also is survived by five grandchildren; Wesley Stathis Bjork and wife Tia, Beryl Christine Bjork, Eleni Katherine Raccanello and husband Indiana, Christianna Lemoine Lindsay and husband Riley, and William Timothy Lemoine, as well as two great grandchildren; Avery Dawn Sovereign and Rowan Stathis Bjork.
Wanda Christine Fishback was born in Lagrange, Kentucky on January 29, 1941. She met Bill Kafoglis while she was in nursing training and he was in medical school. She was chrismated into the Holy Orthodox Church with the name Vasiliki at Panagia Pantovasilisa Greek Orthodox Church in Lexington, Kentucky. Wanda and Bill were married July 12, 1962 in Tokyo, Japan at Saint Nikolaido Orthodox Cathedral while Bill was stationed in Okinawa.
Wanda completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Kentucky and worked in Houston at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital and in home health care.
Wanda volunteered as a nurse at her children's schools and participated in various civic organizations in Houston, Texas. She spent two years caring for her ailing mother and sister-in-law in Lexington, Kentucky; and while there, she was active in the church community at Panagia Pantovasilissa Greek Orthodox Church, now Holy Mother Queen of All, where Bill's family has a rich history. After returning to Texas, Wanda and Bill moved to Katy, Texas to be near Anna and Paul. Through the years, Wanda and Bill worshiped at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, St. Basil the Great Greek Orthodox Church, St. Paul Orthodox Church, finally returning to St. Basil in Wanda's most recent years.
We are grateful for the care and compassion of the parish members of St. Basil the Great, the caretakers at Willow Fork Alzheimer Care, and the medical professionals with Silverado Hospice for Wanda in her final difficult years.
