Wanda Thurman Pollett, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, in Palacios, Texas. She was born on August 1, 1934, in El Campo, Texas, to H.C. Thurman and Hazel J. Thurman.
Wanda lived a vibrant life of 90 years, bringing joy and light to everyone around her. Wanda was preceded in death by her loving husband, James H. Pollett, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage that began on February 5, 1955, in Dayton, Texas.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Gary L. Thurman. Despite the loss of her cherished loved ones, Wanda's spirit and warmth continue to resonate through her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, James L. Pollett, and her two daughters, Karen P. McCaa and her husband George, and Cynthia P. Morrison and her husband Kenneth. Wanda's legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Kris Smith, Amanda Haugen (Shay), Julie Haley (Danny), Christopher Pollett (Heather), Nolan McCaa (Lindsey), James Light (Chelsey), Monica Berckenhoff (Dean), Paige Palmer (Rob), Kevin Light (Shelby), James Randall Arnett (Carley), and Heather Paulk (Dakota).
Each of them was a source of immense pride and joy for her, as were her 27 great-grandchildren, who filled her life with laughter and love. Wanda was known for her remarkable ability to find joy in every situation. She had a knack for turning lemons into lemonade—or limes into margaritas! This resilience was matched only by her generous spirit; she never met a stranger and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Her fierce love for her family and friends, coupled with her passion for Mexican food, made every gathering a celebration filled with warmth and camaraderie.
Wanda embodied the very essence of loyalty, honesty, kindness, and honor, approaching life with her whole heart in everything she did.
A viewing will be held on January 20, 2025 from 1:30-2:30 PM at Brookside Funeral Home. A service will proceed from 2:30-3:30 PM.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate and honor a life well-lived, a life dedicated to love, laughter, and the beauty of human connection. In this time of mourning, we cherish the memories of Wanda's laughter, her kindness, and her unwavering spirit. She may have departed from this world, but her love and legacy will forever remain in our hearts.
