Wendy Layne Smith, age 46, of Houston, Texas passed away on Wednesday June 20, 2018. Wendy was born April 13, 1972 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Wendy was a very outgoing social butterfly who some would say never met a stranger. She had the most wonderful habit of becoming great friends with everyone she met and brought joy and happiness into their lives shortly after saying hello. Her smile is what attracted and lured everyone in to get to know her, and once you started talking to her, there wasn't any stopping anytime soon. That is the way she operated and how she always kept her positive attitude. She would always have you ending with a smile and brighten your day.

She will sadly be missed by her loving children, Brenson and Reagan, her mother, Gloria, her significant other, Stephen and every other friend and family member here today.

Memorial donations may be donated to Brenson or Reagan Grimes, by adding to the GoFundMe page

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Smith family.

Wendy was a beautiful person that had an unbelievable brightness to her. I will never forget the joy and peace on her face when she was baptized and received Christ in the Eucharist. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.

Wendy, In April 1972, I took your birth mother, my niece, to the Baptist Hospital in Louisville, Ky, where you were born. I was told by the hospital staff, that none of family could see you after birth. I convinced a very kindly, motherly, nurse to just let me see you for a minute so someone would KNOW just what you looked like. Later that morning after you were born, the nurse put me in a private room and brought you to me. I was able to hold and love on you for a whole five minutes. At that point you were taken to some loving adoptive parents. Thank God that after about 30 years you found us. I ushered you into this world and just wish I was there now to help usher you into another world filled with God's Love. I know your grandmother, Mary Alice, will meet you at the gate, she loved you dearly. I pray your children, Reagan and Brenson will cherish your memories and hold onto the family ties that love and care for them. I will love and miss you! Great Uncle-Ted Carney

Wendy Layne Smith was a consistent bright ray of sunshine every day. Her smile was contagious and her helping hands were unconditionally providing a helpful result regardless the task.
The caring spirit that she displayed simply made one feel better and special.
Wendy was very special and provided a direction for all of us to get better. She just made every one better, by just being her. When you walked into the front door of the office, her pleasant and sincere smile just made you feel good.
We all learn from each other and when a special goodness is displayed, our objective of getting better becomes much more obtainable. I know it did for me.
Her example of sincere kindness can be imbedded into each one of our lives. We all know the example that she left us, now it is up to us to enrich ourselves and jut get better. She provided all of us with a great example, now it is up to us to follow her lead and just make others feel Good.
It’s contagious, just like Wendy’s smile.

Wendy, I will miss your beautiful smile as I would come up to your desk each day. I will miss you and our little talks we would have. You would always do anything for me and cared about me. The office is so empty now without you. I know you are in Heaven and in great hands. Love and miss you, Phoebe Giddens

As many have testified in Area #1, you were one of the first to welcome us to the club. You and I were both practicing to ride with the club on our own and I am sad that we won't get to share that together. You were a ray of sunshine and I will see you again one day. Save a group ride for me in Heaven.
