Wilford Lee Cossey was born on September 21, 1945, in Houston, Texas, to the proud parents of Walter and Thelma Cossey. He attended Carver High School in Houston, where he graduated with the Class of 1964. Shortly after graduation, he began his career at Cameron Iron Works, where he worked diligently until his well-earned retirement in 2013.
On December 2, 1967, Wilford united in marriage with Evelyn Joyce Denson in Houston, Texas. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and community. Wilford was an active and dedicated member of the Khorville Community Association and faithfully served as the caretaker of the Khorville Community Cemetery for several years, preserving and honoring the legacy of those who came before.
On Monday, June 16, 2025, Wilford peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home, gaining his heavenly wings.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Walter, and Thelma Cossey; his siblings, Larry Joe Cossey, Margaret Mitchell, and Sharon Cossey-Johnson; and his grandson, Aaron Christopher Grace.
Wilford’s legacy lives on through his children: Nadzyah Guillermo (Abilino), Mia Cossey, and Marcus Cossey (Krystal); his cherished grandchildren: Meghan Cossey, Dylon Taylor, Hannah Guillermo, Hayden Guillermo, Eva Cantu, Gabriel Cossey, and Beatrice Cossey; and his great-grandson, Nicolas Myles. He also leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and close friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
A visitation for Wilford will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. The funeral service will immediately follow Friday, June 27, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. The committal will be held, Friday, June 27, 2025 from 12:45 PM to 1:15 PM at Amos Cemetery, Houston, Houston, TX 77070.
