After graduating from Charleston High School, he joined the USAF where he served as a Staff Sgt. He was married to Gladys Croyle on September 13, 1958 and enjoyed 53 years of marriage until she passed away in January, 2012.
William worked as a mechanical draftsman in the HVAC industry. He and his wife, Gladys, were long-time members of Mission Bend UMC in West Houston. He had a passion for leading Bible studies and building model airplanes.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Brooks, of Spring, TX, son, Dean (Taralyn) Brooks, of Mexia, TX, and daughter, Sandra Brooks, of Montgomery, TX. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Julie and Janie (Tony), and four great grandchildren, Ash (Maris), Madeleine, Meredith, and Layla.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at the Houston National Cemetery (Veterans Cemetery) on Monday, July 6, 2020.
