William Floyd Gregory of Humble, TX (previously of Fort Worth TX) passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the age of 94 years. He was born the fourth child of David C. and M. Opal Thomas Gregory on October 17, 1921 in Montague County, TX.
Mr. Gregory was a long-time member of Gospel Assembly Church of Humble, TX; serving God with his whole heart and soul was one of his greatest ambitions. After honorably serving in the U. S. Army during WWII, he went to work for Harbison-Fischer Mfg. Co in Fort Worth and worked there until his retirement some thirty plus years later. He loved hunting; especially bob-white quail; and beekeeping, both of which were begun during his youth to help supplant their food sources. Those two hobbies continued for many years, as long as his health would allow. Travel was also a passion and he and his wife traveled to all but two states; most of it pulling a fifth wheel travel trailer behind one of his beloved Dodge pickup trucks. He loved to play dominoes; but as much as he enjoyed eating, his plate was pushed back anytime for a good game of Forty-Two or Eighty.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, A. Christine Arterbury Gregory and his children, Linda Gregory Arrington, William Floyd (Bill) Gregory Jr (Yvonne) and Joy Gregory Riggs (Dayne); all of the Fort Worth Area; Cecil N.Tage and Phyllis Tage Barr (David) both of the Houston Area. Additional survivors: Grandchildren: Greg Arrington (Christine) of Boyd, TX, Dwayne Gregory (LeAnn) of Otay Ranch, CA, Melissa Gregory Warner (Tim) of Paradise, TX and Christopher Gregory (Ashley) of Saginaw, TX; LaDayna Riggs Arellano of Salt Lake City, UT, Lacy Riggs Carroll (Nathan) and Lucas J. Riggs both of the Fort Worth Area; Christina Tage Stewart (Brant); Bradley Tage (Tiffany) of the Houston Area; and David W. Barr II (Kathy) of Boerne, TX; 23 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandsons; his sister Clara Gregory Blackmon (Bobby) of Saginaw, TX and sister-in-law Lillie Esta Arterbury Gregory; numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends to mourn his passing. He was predeceased by his parents, a grandson Christopher A. Barr, a great grand-daughter; his brothers David, Jr., Roy, Raymond and Virgil Gregory; his sisters Sonora Fenoglio, Lucy Johnson, Loree Herrin and Ruth Pittman; and the mother of his children, Jo Lewis Gregory.
