

William Lee Hill “Red,” age 85, a resident of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, with his wife, son, and daughter by his side. Red was born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, on February 21, 1941, to Chester V. Hill and Loraine Pearl Hill.
Red served in the U.S. Army from June 1965 to December 1969, a chapter of his life remembered with deep respect and gratitude. He later dedicated 40 years to Coastal Casting Service as a welder and supervisor, work that reflected steady commitment and a devoted sense of responsibility.
Beloved and cherished by many, Red lived a life marked by love, laughter, and adventure, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege to know him. He had a gift for making others feel seen, welcomed, and cared for—an enduring reflection of the devoted heart with which he approached family, friendship, and community.
Red enjoyed hunting, fishing, coaching, and watching baseball, and he most valued time spent with those he loved. Though deeply missed, Red’s legacy lives on through family, friends, and the words of wisdom and love that remain with them.
Red was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Loraine Hill; brothers, Craighten Hill and Earnest Dwayne Hill; and sisters, Janet Strutz and Mary Kelley.
Red is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth A. Hill; son, Victor W. Hill; daughter, Angela L. Blackwell (husband Travis S. Blackwell); grandchildren, Kristina M. Hill, Aaron J. Hendrix (wife Skylar Hendrix), Eliseo “Eli” Arteaga, and Greysen S. Blackwell; and great-grandchildren, Beckett W. Harris and Tate K. Harris.
Services will be held on April 27, 2026, at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77038: Gathering from 11:00 am to 11:30 am; Rosary from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm; and Celebration of Life from 12:15 pm to 1:15 pm. A Committal Service will follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
