William H. Hogge

William H. Hogge, 82, was born April 26, 1931 in Portsmouth, VA and passed away May 12, 2013 in Houston, TX. He grew up in Hampton, VA and married his wife on May 17, 1953 in Hampton. They have lived in Houston, TX for 50 years. In 1950, William joined the US Army and completed a 9 month tour in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in June 1952 with the rank of Master Sergeant. His career as a Mechanical Engineer spanned for 38 years with Westinghouse Electric and he retired in 1994. He was a member of Willow Meadows Baptist Church of Houston and served as a Children’s Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. He loved gardening, country western dancing, baking, computer work and helping others through volunteer work with AARP and Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. William is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Shirley S. Hogge; daughters, Diana L. Grosscope and Karen S. Thomason & husband Jim; son, Timothy P. Hogge & wife Jennifer; six grandchildren and brother, Walter Hogge. Memorial donations may be made in William’s name to Willow Meadows Baptist Church, 4300 W.
