

He was born in Hunstville, Ohio on March 12, 1932. William was raised on a farm. He graduated from Ohio Northern University with a law degree. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and 4-H. William worked at a private law practice in Fredericktown, Ohio, then as a prosecuting attorney in Knox County, Ohio. He later returned to the private practice in Fredericktown before moving to Houston, Texas where he opened up a law practice.
Throughout his entire adult life he was active in Lions Club both in Ohio and Texas. He was a District Governor in Lions District 2-S2, and a charter member of Klein Lions Club. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow. Recently he was the recipient of Lions District 2-S2 Hall of Fame. He enjoyed the time spent as docent acting as “Farmer Bill” at Wunderlich Farm.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Wilbur and Elizabeth Hughes and by his sister, Patricia Ann Folland.
He is survived by his children; William W Hughes, Robert E Hughes, Susan Gay Fraley, Bradley S Hughes, his stepchildren; Barbara Knowls, Robert Holsclaw, Elizabeth Gay Manley; fourteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
